We're goin' on a peeper hunt...

The peepers are out in full force and every evening the chorus of chirping is quite the concert. It's a beautiful spring ritual and something that Ellis was thrilled to learn about. Today, we went on a family walk out back where the creek turns to marsh to spy on the peepers with high hopes of getting close enough to have the pleasure of catching one. Unfortunately for us, those peepers are keen to the sounds of people approaching, so they went unseen. But it was an adventure nonetheless...

What's a peeper?

Well, isn't that a good question! A peeper is small spring frog. In fact, they are known to be the loudest creature for their small size...wish I could get a recording up on the blog. I can at least give you the wiki site to learn more! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spring_Peeper

Cool! I read your post so quickly the first time through that I misread "peepers" as "peppers" and honestly thought you were out trying to pick peppers you had planted! I was thinking, "With a net! How interesting! The kids must have thought of that!" Good luck catching those little guys!
