We Newhouses kicked off the summer with a Memorial Day trip to Golden Lake in the U.P. It was extraordinarily warm weather and the lake was even perfect for swimming - unheard of in May! It was a much needed break from the busy-ness at the farm. Our gardens at home are already enormous, thanks to an early spring, but it's also made for a very, very busy season from the start.
It was also a great meeting spot with Nathan & Barbara, Sanne and niece on the way...an ideal place to reconnect and relax. Well, I relaxed and hung out with the kids (wait, do those two things even go together?) while my parents and the guys worked on cleaning and building a new dock.
A beautiful way to welcome summer.

All sounds wonderful. Can't believe beautiful little Phelan is already one. Loved the Golden Lake pictures. Thanks for the update, Becca. We're still waiting for summer here; feels more like fall to me.
