Farm Weather Report link

Thanks, Katherine, for your weather report request. You can find the Colfax weather report at this link but bear it in mind that this is right about one third of the time. The midwest is CRAZY this way! You can get a general idea though. We're located about 9-10 miles North of the town of Colfax. It's not perfect - you'll just have to wait for the 24-hour weather cam we get set up out there, complete with barometer. :D

And on a vicarious note...Charis, didn't I bring the book Poetry in Stitches to Portland one time? Well, that designer's award-winning nordic sweaters will be exhibited in St. Paul in a few days!!!!

Art and Artifact: Sweaters by Designer Solveig Hisdal

Someone please go to the Special Preview on Jan. 24th to hear Solveig Hisdal herself speak. She and another founder are coming from Norway to open the exhibit.

* Sat. Jan. 24

Special Preview. 33 McNeal Hall, St. Paul Campus. 4 pm. Meet Solveig Hisdal and Oleana co-founder Signe Aarhus, and learn about their shared vision of Oleana as a "culture factory". Hisdal will speak on "The Creative Joy of the Past: My Treasure Rooms," followed by Aarhus, "The future Belongs to th Story Teller."
As you can tell from the blurb above, hearing her speak is not just about sweaters, but about the dream of producing something beautiful and new based on very old traditions. They innovated in a lovely way:
"We had a dream to start a new company," Kolbjørn says, "because we were sure there was a market for high quality and we would find it - both in Norway and in other places. We also wanted to create an organization based on other values. One of Oleana's advantages was attracting people who, like us, wanted to have fun creating beautiful designs." If anyone goes, please tell me how it was. I am longing to go. (Katherine)

Article/interview with Oleana community founders, with LOTS of photos of designs

Best online sampling I could find of her sweaters

You see why she has won so many design awards!
