1 - bluejay

5 - raccoon
6 - horse

Okay, Anneka and I decided to give this one a try.
1. Anneka's first guess was a dinosaur, but then she changed it to a bird. Mom's best guess is a ring-necked pheasant.
2. Deer. We practiced identifying this one at OMSI this week.
3.Cat
4. Anneka says it's a kid, but I say it looks more like a moon-booted space creature. Isn't Colfax known for its UFO sightings?
5. Raccoon
6. Horse. I'm guessing Colby--looks a bit too delicate to be Gideon.
7. Rabbit
1)three toed sloth with an unusual prosthetic
2)broken-heart-footed giraffe being chased by a leopard
3)playdough extruder negative
4)Michael Jackson
5)that’s a fake!
6)space alien from distant galaxy
7)even trickier space alien from close by galaxy
Here's my neighbor Tryston's guesses - he had trouble posting.
1. Pheasant, (rooster)
2. Deer, (Fawn)
3. Dog, (probably a beagle, too small for wolf and the rear pad is not wide enough for a coyote, but it could possibly be a red fox, it is hard to tell without the measurements of their gaits)
4. Human, (probably from one of the ladies)
5.Grey Squirrel, its not a raccoon i would say even though they do travel at this time of the year because they are not techniquely true hibernators.
6.Horse print, If gideon is shoed, it is probably colby.
7.Cottontail rabbit
Obviously #4 is a Steger Mukluk Size 8.
Okay, I've waited long enough. I've decided to award two winners, as Tryston has a bit of an advantage what with being a trapper and living in the neighborhood and all. So yes, Tryston, you and your insane attention to detail win you a prize. But I'm also giving Mark O. serious kudos, and he'll get prize #2 as he came in a close second. Here are the answers:
1. Pheasant
2. Deer
3. The Beyrer's yellow lab, Magness
4. Yes, Elissa, a Steger Mukluk - ladies size 9
5. Squirrel
6. Colby
7. Rabbit
Oh, and major style points to Matt and Anneka. Thanks to all who played!
But what are the prizes?! Us spectators want to know!
An all-expenses-paid trip to Hawaii. Or some Lostview Farm homemade jam. Their choice. I hear the jam is really good!
Who is this "Mark O"? I mistook him for someone I'm married to, but my Mark swears he didn't enter the contest. You know another Mark O?
Julianne
WHAT? I thought for sure it was your Mark O too - NOW what am I going to do? Maybe it's Mark O Hatfield. Is he still alive? Where am I going to send this jam, people??
Did you blend 'Natalie O.' and 'Mark in OR' (me) into one? I'm Mark Carlson McMinnville, OR. Jam sounds tasty...
Yeah, that must have been it, Mark! You're the winner! I think Becca and Chris have your address. I'll send that jam right out - Congrats!
